| “…when
the seams come undone it’s time to sew up the pieces.”
What
is Sheila really thinking during her typical day? She wears a
beautiful red dress representing what she wants the outside world
to see. Hiding thoughts that lie beneath… What a beautiful
front for a messy reality.
The
original exhibition was a collaboration between myself, writer
Kelly-Lee Hickey and sound artist Tammy Benitez. We worked on
the idea of triptychs: Three phases of the day; triptych presentation
of the colour photographs; triplet poems. A nine-minute sound
scape accompanied the colour (cross-processed) and black and white
images, whilst the words gave “Sheila” a voice, her
thoughts.
The words voiced the dichotomy of Sheila’s thoughts, while
the black and white and colour images reflected them. Voyeuristically
observing how Sheila gets through her day and how it ultimately
ends.
Unfortunately
the complete format of the exhibition is not shown on this website.
So for now please enjoy the colour images as they were shown.
